Why CARE Online YTT is NOT to affiliated with Yoga Alliance

This program is not accredited through Yoga Alliance though what we have created here will most definitely cover their requirements. What we are offering is, in my experience, quite different and extraordinary from teacher trainings that I know of.

Yoga Alliance is an interesting entity. Right now they are the only nationally recognized accreditation program in the country/world. That has always felt wrong to me. I have led 14 yoga teacher trainings now. All of them have been YAC. I even had another Yoga Alliance certified yoga school I developed with Diana Oppenheim, who is going to be a part of CARE program. I am glad I have the experience with them to know what their requirements are but I feel they are obsolete and limiting.

One of my thoughts is that when there is a big organization like this one things get looked over, lost, and watered down. They don't have people who check up on trainings to actually see what is happening. I see a comparison to how certified Organic by the FDA is treated in our country. The government will certify a farm organic through certain check marks but in actuality farms and treatment of plant and animals from farm to farm can be vastly different.

In terms of getting a teaching job without YA certification. I know that it is possible and even welcomed in some studios. Through the training we will discuss how to approach this and the business of yoga. Why a studio would only hire YA certification is concerning and something that needs to be changed. One of my intentions with this training is to mentor every trainee so that when you are done with the program your teaching skills can not be ignored by any studio if you decide to pursue that route. Or maybe you will open your own studio and help create that structural change!
